No tricks, only treats with our newest Dream Session interview video. We sat down with DJ Chuckie moments before his set at Dream Downtown’s annual Halloween party. Keep watching to find out how he got his name, where dance music is heading and his “guilty pleasure” song.
DJ CHUCKIE: My name is DJ Chuckie and I am here to celebrate Halloween as usual. New York City, baby.
DREAM: Where did the name “Chuckie” come from?
DJ CHUCKIE: When i was young back in High School I used to be a rascal and get in all kinds of trouble. I was always the leader of the pack so my friends called me Chuckie.
DREAM: Where is your favorite city to perform?
DJ CHUCKIE: It used to be New York City but I must say Las Vegas. Probably because it’s crazy.
DREAM: Where is dance music heading?
DJ CHUCKIE: In the United States I think the Underground will be way bigger. AS you can already see the festivals are getting second main stages and it’s all underground. I think it will keep on growing.
DREAM: What’s a song you love that would surprise people?
DJ CHUCKIE: There’s a couple of songs I really love, I would call them like guilty pleasure you know. there’s this one all time favorite song Jennifer Paige Crush whenever that song comes on I am in the car driving, singing along.
DREAM: What can people expect from your Halloween set?
DJ CHUCKIE: It’s obviously, it’s Halloween so it will always be Halloween favorites. So I think it’s going to be, definitely throwing in some Thriller over there.
DREAM: What game piece to you pick in Monopoly?
DJ CHUCKIE: I always pick out the little shoe. It kind of keeps me grounded. Stay humble on the field.
DREAM: Are you dressing up for Halloween?
DJ CHUCKIE: I was supposed to dress up but I forgot my outfit in Aruba back home so I don’t know what I am going to do. My actual outfit I was going to come out like Steve Aoki.
DREAM: What is your favorite Chucky movie?
DJ CHUCKIE: I must say the first Chucky movie was my favorite. I just think that was the funniest. He was funny and scary at the same time… kind of like me.
