Always dreamed of your own street style moment? You’re not the only one. Dozens of guests and Fashion Week goers poured into the Dream Downtown lobby during the iconic week to kick it off right and showcase their style.
Laura Kay, better known as Diary Sketches, brought her arsenal of pens and markers to transform guests into chic fashion illustrations. People came from around the city and around the country, with one woman who traveled all the way from Miami, Florida to receive her personal memento.
Fashion fans came ready, sporting everything from pink socks under bedazzled heels to brightly colored gowns to versatile jumpsuits and patterns galore. Designers, influencers, editors, and hotel guests alike wanted their chance to be etched into this Fashion Week’s history.
The talented illustrator sketched and colored a portrait about every 5 minutes, demonstrating not only her incredible artistic skill, but her speedy pace as well. Forgot your favorite pair of sunglasses or purse? No problem. She used her imagination to draw in extra accessories or outfit elements (she even added extra people–one man brought a photo of his wife to be included next to him!). Everyone’s dream looks could be made possible with just a few quick lines and dashes of color.
